I really like to go to Tattersall, a distillery in North East Minneapolis. They make a drink called the Salty Dog and it is amazing! I tried to remake their recipe from what I could see at the bar. I knew it had Barrelled Gin, Grapefruit Crema, lemon juice, simple syrup, and tonic. I based my recipe on the idea that the cocktail was a 4 oz. cocktail (a little mistake—it’s not) and I started with a gin base (another mistake—it’s not), but whatever I like my version too. You can find Tattersall’s recipe on the Tattersall app. It’s called The Salty Dog #2. Here’s my recipe:
2 oz. Barrelled Gin
1 oz. Grapefruit Crema (a Tattersall original!)
1 oz. Simple Syrup
1/2 oz. to 3/4 oz. Lemon Juice
Add all ingredients to an ice filled shaker and shake. Pour over ice. Top with Tonic and a few drops of salt water.
I really like all the versions of the cocktail (there are several, not including mine), but when I’m at home and need a good drink I make mine. Thank you Tattersall for the inspiration. Here’s to your health!
